چکیده
Nanowire arrays are promising man-made materials for tuning the spectrum and magnitude of near-field thermal radiation. Near-field radiative properties nanowire often studied using effective medium theory (EMT). In this paper, we inspect validity Maxwell-Garnett (MG) Bruggeman (BR) EMTs predicting emission by quartz indium tin oxide (ITO) arrays. The energy density predicted is compared with numerical simulations obtained discrete dipole approximation. For arrays, which support localized surface phonons in infrared region, neither MG nor BR EMT can accurately predict even at distances, zo, greater than array pitch, L over π. Based on performed simulations, agrees best T-DDA when 1<Lzo<π. It also shown that slightly more consistent EMT. ITO array, does not plasmons provides an acceptable estimations Finally, it observed vary a factor two lateral directions cannot be captured

Collective near-field thermal emission from polaritonic nanoparticle arrays
The spectral characteristics of near-field thermal emission from nanoparticle arrays are explained by comparison to the dispersions for propagating modes. Using the coupled dipole model, we analytically calculate the spectral emission from single particles, chains, planes, and three-dimensional arrays of SiO2 and SiC. We show that the differences in their spectra are due to the existence or abs...

Effective Field Theory Models for Thermal QCD
We present an effective field theory model for QCD at finite temperature with quarks. We discuss the mean field theory, the fixing of parameters, and a prediction for the curvature of the critical line. We proceed to write down a pionic theory of fluctuations around the mean field, and discuss how the parameters of this pionic effective theory descend from the model with quarks.

Thermal conductivity in porous silicon nanowire arrays
The nanoscale features in silicon nanowires (SiNWs) can suppress phonon propagation and strongly reduce their thermal conductivities compared to the bulk value. This work measures the thermal conductivity along the axial direction of SiNW arrays with varying nanowire diameters, doping concentrations, surface roughness, and internal porosities using nanosecond transient thermoreflectance. For Si...
